Editorial Policy
Sourcing standards
Every factual claim on ufoandalien.com must be traceable to a primary source. A primary source is a government document (congressional testimony, FOIA release, official report), a peer-reviewed scientific study, an official press release, or direct testimony from a named credentialed individual in a verifiable on-record context.
Secondary sources - news reports from established outlets - are acceptable to support context and background but are not treated as primary evidence for factual claims about UAP events, official findings, or scientific conclusions. We list all sources at the bottom of every article.
Claim verification
Before publication, every article is reviewed by a human editor who checks:
- That every cited source is real, accessible, and says what the article claims it says.
- That no claim is overstated beyond what the cited evidence supports.
- That speculation is clearly labeled as such and distinguished from documented fact.
- That language is precise - we do not use "UFO" to mean "alien spacecraft" unless a source explicitly claims that, and we never present that claim as established fact.
AI-assisted drafting and the human-approval gate
We use AI tools in the drafting and research phases of article production. No article is published without passing a human editorial review. The editor is responsible for verifying factual accuracy against primary sources before approving publication. AI output that cannot be verified is removed.
Independence and conflicts of interest
ufoandalien.com does not accept payment for coverage. Advertisers have no influence over editorial decisions. We have no affiliation with any government body, intelligence service, advocacy group, or defense contractor. If an editorial team member has a potential conflict of interest on a story, that story is assigned to a different writer or the conflict is disclosed on the article.
Corrections commitment
When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and note the correction on the article. We do not silently edit articles to remove errors after publication. Significant corrections are noted with the date and a description of what changed.
To report an error, email [email protected] or see our corrections page.
What we do not cover
We do not cover unverifiable personal anecdotes presented as fact, unfalsifiable conspiracy theories, claims from anonymous sources who cannot be verified, or sensationalized "alien contact" stories that rest on no credible evidence. This is not because we assume such things are impossible - it is because we cannot meet our sourcing standard for them.
